Wellsprings Community

Wellsprings came into being in 2006, as God spoke clearly to David and Maggie Hewitt and others about a 'new thing' He wanted to do in the city and the nation.

Our vision is for a Community of closely related believers, passionately encountering the Presence of God, who participate in dynamic, free-flowing worship. We seek transformation through prayer and worship, equipping the church to spread the good news of the Kingdom through the love of God, with demonstration of his power.

Our aims are;

For the worship to be Spirit–led and organic in style, creative, passionate and prophetic, able to explore many new expressions that have ‘life’.

To gather together as the Body of Christ, and to have inclusive worship, across the age ranges, which will be non-religious, jargon-free and relevant to the age we live in.

To encourage the operation of the gifts of the Spirit and facilitate active participation, releasing anointing across the church.

In accepting the Bible as the revealed Word of God, for our teaching to be relevant, equipping the church for authentic and effective demonstration of the Kingdom of God in daily life.

To endeavour to live ‘on the right side of the Cross’, recognising the finished work of Christ and our identity as sons and daughters of the King.

A desire to genuinely express the love of God to all, with acceptance and compassion, yet holding onto truth and integrity. We aim to show love to the poor and disadvantaged, and to seek the transformation of our city & nation for the glory of God.

To recognise the strategic location of Wellsprings as a ‘gateway’ to the city, and the prophetic call on the Community to influence Scotland and the nations, as well as the local area around Newcraighall. We aspire to change the spiritual atmosphere of the vicinity through consistent, extended prayer and worship.

To facilitate prayer for the city & the nations, and to seek to encourage and nurture the growth of 24-7 prayer, through the Edinburgh House of Prayer (EHOP).

To facilitate team leadership and build strong relationships, recognising that through the new covenant we function as one body. We recognise our partnership with Regius School, Movement in Worship and the Africa Fund. We aim to work closely with Healing Rooms and seek to empower members of the Community in similar or related visions and callings.

To have links with other leaders in the city and beyond to facilitate relationship, mutual input and counsel.

To seek to develop a culture where demonstrations of the Spirit’s power are the norm, while embracing process and recognising that we live in a broken and hurting world. We wish to see hope restored and the Kingdom of God established.

Edinburgh House of Prayer

As part of a house of prayer and worship, the prayer room at Wellsprings was set up to be a place where followers of Jesus from across the region could gather to worship Him together, while remaining linked and committed to the church family or group they are part of (see the prayer room page for fuller details). This has now developed as Edinburgh House of Prayer (EHOP), rooted in Wellsprings but serving the wider city.
